Courage First Attends IGNITE 2019

This week, the Courage First Team attended IGNITE 2019 in Boston, MA and joined sexual abuse prevention leaders from across the country. We heard from experts in the space, including our partner Marci Hamilton - CEO of CHILD USA, and Olympian Advocate Aly Raisman, who spoke on advocacy efforts, healing, and taking action to heal and make the world a safer place for kids.

The conference illuminated the necessity for continued action and policy implementation around the world. Session topics included “The Neurochemistry of Trauma”, “Developing a Sexual Abuse Prevention Plan,” “Minimizing Opportunity”, “Implicit Bias”, and “How to Be Happy & Healthy While Being Exposed to Childhood Sexual Abuse.”

Whether from an individual, organization-wide, or community level, the thought-provoking sessions provided us with new tools and valuable research to take home.

As education is essential in prevention, it’s conferences like IGNITE that elevate evidence-based efforts and reasonable action steps for adults to implement in their lives so that we can work together to make world safer for children and athletes.
